KEY POINTS TO RAISE IN YOUR OBJECTION
We recommend that you look to include some or all of the following key points.
You can use these objections as written here – but rephrasing them in your own words will make your response even more powerful.
- This unjustified urban spawl would push Wilmslow’s built form southward into open Green Belt countryside resulting in a finger of development that would parmanently compromise the integrity and function of the Green Belt.
- The development would close the Green Belt gap between the urban areas of Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.
- Brownfield and safeguarded sites must be developed before Green Belt.
Housing supply shortage cannot override this.
- Cumulative impact from recent housing and road developments have already led to significant flooding. Additional discharge from the site into Whitehall Brook would increase the flood risk.
- The development would damage the distinctive character of the Chonar Landscape Character Area and sever important ecological corrisors that support biodiversity.
- Views across the ridgeline will be disrupted and degrade the natural skyline setting of the area, resulting in widespread intrusion visible from the footpaths and across the valley.
- Building housing near mature oaks and woodlands would harm their roots, reduce wildlife habitats and threaten protected species.
- This development would permanently remove productive farmland.
National policy dictates that this should be protected.
- Increased traffic on Welton Drive would pose a safety risk, particularly for pedestrians, dog walkers and children accessing Butterfly Bank, an area heavily used for recreation and walking.
- The Cheshire East Local Plan designates this site as Green Belt of significant importance.
